Dingy Bucket
- Modeled in Autodesk Maya (4275 Faces 7427 Tris)
- Textured in Substance Painter (1024 x 1024 Pixels)
(Final screenshots were captured in the Unity engine)
The Process:
This piece was created as an assignment for a 3D Materials and Textures class at Lake Washington Institute of Technology. The subject, a bucket, and reference images were given to use from the instructor. I used the reference images as a base and mapped out the chest's silhouette and basic geometry using as few polygons as I could with Autodesk Maya 2018. I then UV unwrapped the model and exported an image of the UVs to Adobe Photoshop.
(Low/High poly screenshots were captured using Maya Arnold renders and composited in Photoshop)
UV Map
(UV screenshot was captured using Photoshop)
After import the UV map image into Adobe Photoshop I gathered reference images of wood, metal, and cork textures from online sources and created a composite image to fit the material's type and direction. I edited the color map to extrapolate data for the other map types and exported them.
